Writing: Is Blogging Dead?

Blogging is not dead – Far from it.

Lately, there has been a considerable resurgence 😳 of Blogging

What Has Changed?

What’s a lot different is the way we blog.

I recalled how blogs started as online diaries or personal journals, with parents sharing their holidays, kids, family albums, travel, hobbies, interests, and more.

Not much later, the business world realized that people were reading food blogs, and that’s when things shifted.

What is Blogging Now?

It’s more niche or topic-driven; it’s more of an exact science. It’s a business. Serious.

You will hear talk of unique voice (not new to writers; we’ve been waiting for bloggers to catch up for years), SEO (search engine optimization), keywords, and all that has crept in as people try harder to blog.

Whether that be for a hobby or to somehow monetize their efforts (many have managed this quite successfully already).

Good, bad, or otherwise, Blogging is here to stay – in a big way.

What About AI – Won’t it Take Over Blogging and Kill All Writing Jobs?

Hmmm, One feel swoop 💭… I was wondering how much longer I could avoid this topic.

I love all things techy, and now I love AI too.

My love for tech goes back to my first job, where I learned Word processing as a WPO (Word Processing Operator) for an Accounting firm.

In those days, I sat at my desk for 7.5 hours, Monday to Friday, typing up Legal and Accounting documents for the firm’s Partners. And, yes, for whatever reason, I loved typing all day.

The working days flew by. It was fun. My mind could wander, and my desire to write was building before I even cared about reading. My reading life only began much later in life. I wouldn’t say I liked reading as a younger person.

I think back to it now, and I don’t know how I sat there for two years – hours upon hours of typing. And yes, RSI (repetitive strain injury) was a genuine thing. Sometimes, I strapped my wrist and visited a Doctor or two about it, but I changed jobs and resolved the issue.

So, back to it.

AI?

Who knows?

I DO see it replacing jobs altogether and partially by changing existing functions.

Yet, like the invention of technology and the continual improvements that came with that technology, I see it only creating more opportunities. Though somewhat different from what we have now, chances are all the same. It’s an exciting time to be alive.

“NOW, back to it”…

Is Blogging Dead?

Because people are visually motivated and sometimes lazy, they crave more Video, sound, and interactive styles. Only faithful readers and writers amongst us will still prefer text.

And, strangely enough, there are many of us. Think of how Facebook or Snapchat help create many more readers who would never have read so much if it had not been for social media and felt left out if they didn’t try it.

But, no, Blogging is not dead and will continue to increase, expand, and change continually, but it will not cease to exist. 😉

Well, not just yet. Thinking back to the song Video Killed the Radio Star, I remember sitting on the school bus when I first heard it. It profoundly affected my thinking. I didn’t understand the ramifications because I was too young, but I felt it was important. And here we are again today, wondering if AI will kill not only Blogging but all human jobs.

It won’t kill all jobs, but it will profoundly change our jobs, and we must adapt pronto. Life as we have become accustomed to it will undoubtedly be interesting 😉

Enjoy your weekend!
